El Yerbatero -- Supplier of Quality Yerba Mate
Proud to offer Paraguayan Yerba Mate.

Yerba Mate can be drunk hot or cold. In Paraguay it is normally drunk cold; in Argentina hot. In South America it is a communal beverage. The cebedor pours the water into the vessel (guampa/mate), drinks from the straw (bombilla), refills and passes it to a companion.

For more information about the health benefits or how to prepare yerba mate, visit the Yerba Mate Association of the Americas.

I taught in Paraguay for almost two and a half years. During that time I came to love yerba mate. I especially enjoyed sharing it with friends as we sat and talked.

It is a pleasure to share the national beverage of Paraguay (and Argentina) with you.

I couldn't live without mate," an Argentine friend gravely told me when I quizzed him on the habit. "For us, mate is like oxygen."
